As well as a number of years providing water safety for their own events and holidays, the Sea Swim Cornwall team have notched up an impressive number of years beach lifeguarding. Tom and Jo have guarded every beach in Newquay, at one time or another and Tom has carried out 5 seasons of lifeguarding in Australia. Kerry (one of our part timers) has completed 12 seasons of lifeguarding in Cornwall and was the first female lifeguard to work in India…as well as carrying out a teaching programme in the country, whilst she was there. Our other part-timer Freddi has forgotten how many season of lifeguarding he’s completed (we think it’s 25), in both Newquay and Australia.

We’ve put some of that knowledge into a lightweight fold out brochure. Ideal to keep in your bag or pocket (we’d recommend lamination or keeping in a waterproof bag). It has some useful info regarding rip currents, how to identify them, what to do in a rip, reading the conditions etc.
