Tom remembers the days when he used to pay £2.50 for his Speedo Master goggles. Goggles you’d construct yourself. Now, whilst prices have risen astronomically since then, the quality hasn’t really improved! Goggles still fog after a couple of months, they might be marginally (and I mean marginally) more comfortable…I think if anything, the elastic over the year has got worse. It doesn’t seem to have the same elasticity. Goggle manufactures drone on about the goggle advances in ‘peripheral vision’, their advances in hydrodynamics (like it’ll drop your 400 swim time by 10 seconds!) and how they’ve spent £10 million on research and developing a new nose bridge…They’ll then whack the price up by £20, whilst sourcing cheaper and cheaper materials!
