CORNWALL WATERPOLO TOURNAMENT 2026

FALMOUTH, CORNWALL

SEPT 5 2026, 9am - 5pm

PLEASE READ through the site carefully. There is important info, including accommodation options. We’ve reserved the portacabins for the ladies teams. Men are at the campsite next door.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Team entry £100. Through link at bottom of the page. *We’ve reduced the team price this year but removed the camping pitches that were included last year.

  • Players then enter themselves individually. Entry fee is £10 per player. *Players need to enter asap as we have BBQ dinner option…and the chef needs to know what to order! Booking at the bottom of the page.

TOURNAMENT LAYOUT

Mens - We use one ‘pitch’ for the men and one for women. Games will be played from 9am-5pm on the Saturday only, games starting on the hour and half hour. Games are 2 x 10 minute halves. At this stage there will be 6 male teams in total, so 5 games per team. If you would like to attend but can’t get enough players for a team/have too many for one team… contact us and we’ll see if any of the other teams need extra players (which some may).

Ladies - we’re introducing a 4 team ladies tournament. Played in the same lake. Starting slightly later. Round robin style and then a final for the top points scorers. *This is the first year we’ve offered the ladies tournament. Should we have a lot of interest, we may expand the tournament to 6 teams and follow the same layout as the mens. Get in touch if it becomes fully booked and we’ll look to amend.

FIXTURE LIST

3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss. The winner of the tournament will be the highest points scorer. In the event of a tie, we’ll look at the teams head-to-head record and then goal difference (if required).

Whilst we’ll cover the bulk of the refereeing, we will require 1 or 2 willing volunteer referees from each team to officiate a few games.

Fixture list will be drawn at random and published at the bottom of the page, once we have all teams entered.

SPECTATORS

The new venue makes it quite tricky to spectate, as space down there is limited. Any eager spectators and players could bring along an inflatable boat and paddle out and watch.

LOCATION AND SITE MAP

BF Adventure, Goodygrane Activity Centre, Halvasso, Longdowns, Penryn, TR10 9BX

BF Adventures is a 5-10 minute drive from Falmouth University and just outside of the town of Falmouth.

The site itself consists of 4 quarry lakes. We’ll be playing on the ‘canoe lake’ (Swim Quarry on map). It’s approx 70m in length and 40m wide, 6m deep at its deepest. As it’s shallower, the water will be warmer than previous tournaments. Easy access into the water, with a sandy, gradual slope. The quarry has high walls, offering great protection from the wind.

The campsite, cafe, dining area, shower block etc are all within a 5 minute walk across the site.

There is no lighting on site, so torches are fairly essential. A phone power pack/bank might also be a good idea.

SITE MAP BELOW. PARKING MAY VARY. WE’LL LET YOU KNOW. WE’RE PLAYING IN THE SWIM/CANOE QUARRY

ACCOMMODATION

Camping options for the male players can be found at checkout, when entering as an ‘individual player’. Campsite makes up part of the BF Adventures site and is in easy walking distance of the waterpolo pitches, toilet blocks, cafe and Saturday night dinner area.

Female players can book the Portacabins in the middle of the site. I’d suggest that you finalise numbers and phone BF Adventures direct for book. 01326 340912 - Alternatively, you could also book onto the campsite through the checkout.

*Extra nights camping options available through BF Adventures direct. Please be aware that the campsite will be closed to the public. So individuals booking for extra night(s), may be the only people on the campsite. You can only book the Saturday night camping through this webpage. 01326 340912

FOOD, REFRESHMENTS & SAT NIGHT

There is a cafe onsite and open over the tournament. CLICK HERE - to view Quarryside Cafe and their menu. It’s a 5 minute walk up the track. Open 9am - 4pm. *I may get them to open early on the Saturday, for coffees and breakfast baps.

Saturday Night - We’ve got in a professional chef to offer a delightful BBQ - serving 6-8pm. Pre-booking essential (order online).

Burgers / Vegan Burger available, with slaw, salad, potato salad and pickles (ai image below). Meat option £13.50 / Vegan £12.50

There is no bar…so it’s strictly BYO booze only.

FIXTURE LIST

Teams are randomly drawn out of a hat.

Games will be 10 minute halves, running clock. We suggest that each team bring a couple of match balls. Whilst we don’t have a shot clock present, referees will be instructed to turn the ball over, if they deem a team to be time wasting.

WATER TEMP

We can’t make any promises but last years competition was held in around 17.5 degree water. This venue is shallower and more protected, so we’re hoping for more like 19 degrees.

EXTRAS

Event lake-side sauna. This year, we’ll charge £9 per day. You can then pop in and out as you please. Subject to availability. We’ll more than likely put on a time limit of approx 15 minutes per visit, if it’s really popular.

ZIP WIRE SAFARI / CLIMBING WALL

The site also offer zip wire safaris and have a climbing wall. They said they’d be happy to take on any private groups on the Friday afternoon/evening or possibly the Sunday…if any of the teams fancied it. Follow the link to the ‘contact’ page and give them a call - CLICK HERE

OPEN PLAY SUBSTITUTIONS

You can sub out/in during open play, anywhere along the lane line in your own half. We’ll be playing 10 minute halves so this will probably be required. Just make sure you high-five outside of the pool/pitch. SEE BELOW :

VIOLENT CONDUCT/BRUTALITY

Whilst we accept that this is part of the game, we’re thrilled to be playing at BF Adventures and would like to continue to hold the tournament there annually. Whilst we love a competitive game, we also want this tournament to be a friendly and social occasion. As such, we will take a dim view of violent conduct, particularly audible bad language. The site is open to the public and any actions that could jeopardise future tournaments will be taken very seriously. Such actions may result in a player(s) been banned for the rest of the tournament or potentially asked to leave the site altogether. Any incident of this nature will be discussed by a small committee on site and a decision made fairly rapidly.
