We’ve decided to add a ‘Dash for Cash’ event (of sorts) to our summer activity for…

Entry and booking is £14 per head. We’ll provide water safety and time your effort. The event offers time reductions/is handicapped for individual swimmers, based on age and gender (with the time reductions based on the national Master Champs records (pre-Covid), over 800m and the current South West regional qualifying times for the open category). We took the average time per 100m over the 800m records and multiplied it by 8.5, to cover the 850m course. Last years event was won by Jane, in her 50s.

The Swim :

Enter location here - from a set point... The swim is 850m... Booking : Insert link here...

Prize : £100 for the overall winner, plus an additional £1 for each person that enters ie. 87 entrants over the summer, the prize will be £100 + an additional £87 = £187.

HANDICAP/ADVANTAGE (times below) explained : If you’re male 16-29 you end up with the exact time you swim. Females 19-29 end up with the time they achieve minus 21 seconds. So they effectively have a 19 second head start over the males in the same age group. Males 30-34 have the equivalent of a 15 second head start on the male 16-29 age group and females 30-34 would have the equivalent of a 37 second head start. If you looked at males and females (30-34 yrs category) the females are -37 seconds and males -15 seconds, meaning that a female in this age category would have a 23 second head start over a male participant in the same age group….
